OsmAnd is a professional offline world map application that utilizes OpenStreetMap (OSM) data. With OsmAnd, users can navigate their preferred routes while considering road preferences and vehicle dimensions. What sets OsmAnd apart is its ability to plan routes based on inclines and record GPX tracks without an internet connection.

One of the standout features of OsmAnd is its open source nature, ensuring user privacy as it does not collect any personal data. Users have complete control over the data that the app can access.

Let's delve into the main features of OsmAnd:

 <li>Map view: Allows users to choose which places to display on the map such as attractions, food, health facilities, and more. Additionally, users can search for places by address, name, coordinates, or category. The app offers various map styles tailored to different activities like touring, nautical, winter and ski, topographic, desert, off-road, and more. Users also have the option to add shading relief and contour lines to enhance their map view. Multiple map sources can be overlaid on top of each other for a comprehensive experience.</li>

<li>GPS Navigation: OsmAnd enables users to plot routes even without an internet connection. Navigation profiles can be customized according to different vehicles including cars, motorcycles, bicycles, 4x4s, pedestrians, boats, public transport, and more. Users can also modify the constructed route by excluding certain roads or road surfaces. The app provides customizable information widgets displaying relevant details about the route such as distance, speed, remaining travel time, distance to next turn, and more.</li>

<li>Route Planning and Recording: Through OsmAnd, users can plot routes point by point using one or multiple navigation profiles. GPX tracks can be recorded to keep track of routes taken. Users can easily manage their GPX tracks by displaying their own or imported tracks on the map and navigating through them. Visual data about the route, including descents, ascents, and distances, is also available. Moreover, users have the option to share their GPX tracks in OpenStreetMap.</li>

<li>Creation of points with different functionality: OsmAnd allows users to create favorites and markers for added convenience.</li>

<li>OpenStreetMap: OsmAnd empowers users to make edits to the OSM database and contributes to updating the maps with a frequency of up to one hour, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.</li>

<li>Additional features: OsmAnd offers a compass and radius ruler for enhanced navigation, an interface with Mapillary for an immersive experience, a night theme for better visibility in dark environments, a large community of users worldwide for support and collaboration, and comprehensive documentation.</li>

OsmAnd also provides paid features for those seeking additional functionality:

 <li>OsmAnd Maps+ (in-app or subscription): This premium version offers unlimited map downloads, topographic data including contour lines and terrain information, nautical depths for marine navigation, offline Wikipedia access, and Apple CarPlay support.</li>
 
 <li>OsmAnd Pro (subscription): Building upon the Maps+ features, OsmAnd Pro includes a live weather forecast overlay on maps, both online and offline access. Users also benefit from OsmAnd Cloud for backup and restore functionality, the ability to customize route lines according to personal preferences, and hourly map updates.</li>
